ABOUT DR G OPINES

William M. Gilkison MD practiced Family Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana, for forty years. Twenty-three of those years he practiced solo, but he was very ably assisted by his wife, Sandy, who managed the business office. Forty years of exposure to medical problems, multiple diseases, and complex medical dilemmas gives a physician many opportunities to formulate opinions on a myriad of medical topics. DrGOpines.com is Dr. Gilkison’s opportunity to share his opinions on subjects from angioplasties to zinc supplements.

A 1969 graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine, Dr. G headed to St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado for an internship, but after, entered the U.S. Air Force and spent two years as a General Medical Officer. He then did a two-year Family Medicine Residency at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver. In July 1974, he entered the private practice of family medicine which included 12.5 years of obstetrics, hospital in-patient care, adult and neonatal critical care, nursing home care, and the broad range of diseases diagnosed and treated by Family MD’s.

Dr. G was certified and re-certified by the American Board of Family Physicians five times, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, and was licensed to practice in Indiana, Arizona, California, and North Carolina. Prior to graduation, Indiana University School of Medicine honored him with membership in Alpha Omega Alpha honors medical society.

Dr. G remains a staunch advocate for Family Medicine and believes the doctor-patient relationship should always be strong. Your family doctor is the starting point for excellent medical care, and the doctor who knows you best should be your contact point always. In this blog, Dr. G shares his opinions and experiences over his forty years of practice and nine years of training. He hopes you find something in these posts you can use to improve your life.
