CDC RECOMMENDS ALL AMERICANS 6 MONTHS AND OLDER RECEIVE AT LEAST ONE DOSE OF UPDATED COVID-19 VACCINE

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently approved “reformulated” COVID vaccines by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna. That prompted a CDC Advisory panel to recommend that all Americans age 6 years and older receive at least one dose of the latest COVID vaccine. During their discussions they took into account potential adverse effects in children and young males and ultimately “voted to endorse the new vaccines for everyone.”

“COVID-19 hospitalizations have risen nearly 9% in the most recent week marking the eighth consecutive week of increasing admissions in a row.” The new COVID vaccines should be available in retail pharmacies in the next week or so. CVS and Walgreen’s said they expect to receive vaccine yet this week and are starting to take appointments for next week. It is also anticipated that COVID vaccine will be an annual vaccination similar to the annual influenza vaccination.

Another important bit of information is that COVID vaccines will no longer be covered by the government, but Medicare, Medicaid and insurance companies are expected to cover the shots. “Drugmakers had….previously announced the vaccines would be listed between $120 to $130….but that’s a price NOBODY is expected to have to pay.”

This is “not a plastic bubble we are putting you in that COVID can’t get to you. Now that we’ve gotten back to a more normal lifestyle, you can get exposed to the virus and we want you to have the best protection you can.”
