AGING IS HARD ON PEOPLE! GLP-1’S IMPACT

We don’t need any more reasons for Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 Receptor Agonists to be called the “Drugs of the Century,” but medscape.com just came up with a new one. It happens to be the “potential anti-aging benefits…..for adults over age 65.” Yes, semaglutide and tirzepatide must have been what Ponce de Leon found in the fountain of youth.

“Natural” aging has the following effects on the human body:

Decline in kidney function—chronic kidney disease

     Dehydration

     Coronary Artery Disease

     Congestive Heart Failure

     Stroke

     Dementia

     Decrease in Muscle Mass—atrophy

     Osteoporosis

     Low Blood Pressure/Fainting

GLP-1’s and their anti-aging properties, affect each of these problems in a beneficial way.

Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 Receptor Agonists do the following:

     Improve kidney function

     Improve blood flow

     Reduce Heart Failure Risk

     Lower stroke risk

Fend off the onset of dementia.

Daily protein consumption and exercise prevent muscle loss.

CA++ and Vitamin D are enhanced

Weight loss can lower BP and cause fainting. Stop BP meds.

     Improved hydration

Adults over age 65 will lose weight but also delay aging changes by using GLP-1’s. Close monitoring and taking the supplements that prevent age-related changes are essential.
